our clients’ experience

We frequently work with leaders who need greater self-awareness if they are to build their effectiveness.  The stakes are high for them, and they often need to make fundamental changes to habitual but ineffective patterns of thinking and behaving.

Our clients say:

Lindsay watched me drowning and she taught me how to swim. She is challenging, and she asks searching questions whose answers are sustaining. She has coached me to see my strengths and believe in them, and she has given me greater confidence in my ability. I’ve become more focused and more disciplined. I’m going to plan more, think more before acting, and be more patient in my expectations of other people. I’ve improved my understanding of myself and my special talents, and I’ve begun to realise that what is obvious for me is not necessarily so for others. My organisation has achieved a successful outcome in terms of strategic planning.

When coached by you

My mind opens.

I see my possibilities.

You are a sun.

A warming ray,

Kindling the guarded, secret soul

To gentle off

Life’s overcoat of

Expectations

Until, unleashed,

I revel in the naked freedom

Of myself .

I am happier in myself and in my work, and I no longer feel an internal turmoil. I am more proactive and brave, I am more confident and more aware of my attributes, and I have an improved self-assuredness at work. I am more confident in my interaction with peers and seniors and in managing my team. I tackle things head-on now, and I have taken on more projects. I have learnt to be my own self-advocate.

I’m listening to patients now, and I’m involving them in their treatment. I can see now that the patient won’t trust me if I just increase their medication in order to manage their pain. I’ve learnt to apply with them some of the processes I’ve learnt in coaching: now I’m relating to them and to their pain, and as a result they’re finding solutions themselves, and so I’m prescribing less. I’ve learnt to think – and to think calmly, and now I know how much difference I can make.

I worked with Lindsay on a programme of leadership and career coaching which enabled for me increased confidence and self-awareness and greater belief in my own abilities. I am happier in myself and in my work, and I no longer feel an internal turmoil. I am more proactive and brave, I am more confident and more aware of my attributes, and I have an improved self-assuredness at work. I am more confident in my interaction with peers and seniors and in managing my team. I feel I am more comfortable in myself at work now. I feel I can be more open and direct: I tackle things head-on now, and I have taken on more projects. I have learnt to be my own self-advocate.

The programme has encouraged me to enjoy learning and the process of reflection: I’ve learnt how to study better, procrastinate less and tackle things head-on.

Lindsay is a wonderful coach and fantastic career-mentor with an inspiring style of helping people to open up. I have taken some of the techniques that Lindsay has taught me in our coaching sessions, have continued to use them and have also used them with friends in similar situations. I would not hesitate to recommend Lindsay to friends and colleagues who wanted career coaching and in fact, have done this!
Hospital doctor, UCLH

Lindsay Wittenberg coached me as part of a leadership and career development programme at UCLH. As a result of it I now understand why I behave the way I do, I’m clearer about the challenges in my career and how to approach them, and I’m more willing to take the initiative and lead. I’m contributing more and I’m enjoying my work. Now I challenge my consultant to see if there’s an alternative way of doing things. I’m not so anxious about my relationships or about my communication, because I know I have a way to deal with them. Lindsay has enormous patience, and willingness to listen and reflect back without any prejudice. The coaching sessions were an eye-opener, and the programme has been transformational.
Anaesthetist, UCLH

In my coaching programme with Lindsay Wittenberg I gained awareness of my own personality type and learning styles, and I gained clarity around my career plan.  The outcome of the programme is a GP who is more confident and in control of where his career is going, and who will go on to lead a practice and be involved in the local GP community.
General practitioner

My motivation and my confidence in my own judgment have increased, and I have become more focused. I do not shy away from conflict as much as I did. I now meet situations head on, and this has been a breakthrough for me: I have become a stronger leader. My team has become more cohesive, more consensual and more effective, and it has more order and structure. I have got a massive amount from the programme.
Partner in a leading international law firm

You challenged me, you dragged me out of my comfort zone, but it didn’t seem difficult to me. The coaching was an eye opener; it allowed me to be honest to myself. At the end [of it] I felt so energised, so positive, so affirmed, and relieved of the burden of the doubts I had felt.
Global Project Director

I have become more confident, more aware of the impact I have on others, less self critical and more assertive.
Specialist Registrar, NHS

You showed me how to make small changes that made a huge difference. I have a completely different outlook now on everything: relationships, communication, work…..
Specialist Registrar, NHS

I was feeling very demotivated, demoralised and isolated… I had lost my influence and control and, as such, my identity. Now I feel back in control and inspired and invigorated. I am happier coming to work and am making a significant contribution to the new department.
Director

Lindsay gave me both the space and structure to properly consider my options and then the confidence and encouragement to pursue them.
Business owner

I had the most amazing coaching experience.
Cultural Development Adviser

[The way in which you facilitated the day for us meant that] everyone was involved: you enabled the group to feel safe enough to say what they needed, and everyone was comfortable: they didn’t feel threatened in any way.
